Bow Arm Morris Chair:    $48,000.00
AUCTION HOUSE: SOTHEBY'S
MAKER: GUSTAV

Here is one of Gustav Stickley’s most famous designs. The bow arm Morris Chair was made by Stickley from 1901 to 1916 and is both recognizable and highly coveted. The arched arms, pluralized by the arch along the seat apron gave this chair a little more sensitivity than Stickley’s straight lined recliners. Also interesting is the reverse-tapered legs that are thinner at the arms than at the floor. The Stickley Museum possesses an outstanding version from 1904 (pictured below, right). The Bow Arm chair (#89-2340) is still made by Stickley.
